Top 3 tips to get your documents EDGARized and accepted by SEC On Time

EDGAR(Electronic Data Gathering Analysis and Retrieval) is nothing but a file format in which businesses are required to submit details such as periodic reports and registration statements to the Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC) of the United States. This rule was brought in a few years ago and on defaulting, companies have to pay a penalty.

SEC is a body formed to protect investor interests and therefore all the information gathered is made available to public. The documents are accepted only in this particular file format called EDGAR. Now, SEC has a whole host of rules and regulations which are prone to change. Therefore getting your documents accepted by SEC might be difficult.

Here are top 3 tips to have your documents accepted by SEC on time.

1. Look out for an Edgarizing company well ahead of the deadline

This is important especially if you are getting your documents edgarized for the first time. The Edgar agent is likely to have  many doubts and may want certain documents that you would have to ready. So buffer time is extremely important.

2. Choose a credible Edgar filing agent

There are many companies that offer Edgarization services hence it is important to be picky before you decide on one. Look into the turn around time and see to it that they are available on call or email all through the edgarization process.

3. Send reminders and be in constant touch with your agent

It is important to be in constant touch with the Edgarization company to see that they deliver your work on time. They may take your work a little lightly unless you push them to give their best. Send them reminders about your filing date such that they don't miss the deadline.

These tips are a start for good first time Edgarization process. It should not be too hard once you cross the initial hiccups.
